Will Phnom Penh become the second Bangkok?

High-rise buildings, skyscrapers, flyovers, traffic jams... This is what Bangkok is like and so is Phnom Penh. Having an economic growth of 7% a year, Cambodia is attracting more and more investors to seek their business opportunities, which results in the constructing of new infrastructures in and around the heart city of Phnom Penh. High-rises and skyscrapers are being built by both local and foreign investors, while many new roads and flyovers are being constructed by the government. Sooner or later, this city will become a modern city just like Bangkok, Singapore etc... Despite of the rapid development, the city also suffers from serious issues as well. Being home to around two millions people, Phnom Penh is suffering from very bad traffic congestion day by day. A journey which takes you 20 minutes during normal hour may take you 1 hour or more during peak time. The issue still makes the government as well as commuters headache although new flyovers are being constructed and public buses are introduced. With the help from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), more means of public transportation such as buses and sky trains will soon be delivered to Phnom Penh, while the installation of the new Traffic Control System is on the way.
