Tuol Kork Roundabout to Become a Memory

Over the last decade, traffic congestion have occurred quite often in the heart city of Cambodia–Phnom Penh. To solve this problem, the RGC (Royal Government of Cambodia) and Phnom Penh Municipal Hall try their best to find the gateways possible to this congestion such as installing more traffic lights, turning some roads into one-way, constructing the flyovers, and demolishing the roundabouts. And one of the roundabouts to be demolished is Tuol Kork, which will soon be replaced by the new traffic lights. However, Tuol Kork is not the first roundabout to be transformed, the three other roundabouts that had already been changed are Phsar Demkor roundabout, Olympic Water Tank roundabout, and Neang Kunghing roundabout.Tuol Kork roundabout is the intersection of five busy streets, which makes it difficult to solve the traffic when congested. Let's wait and see how much the new improvement can solve the congestion. Nonetheless, the improvement takes place step by step. 

Step 1: No more driving around

The road around the roundabout connected to Samdech Pen Nouth Blvd is blocked, which means motorists from the flyover (Kim Il Sung Blvd) cannot turn left to street 592 and street 608 (west) anymore; but they are allowed to go straight to Samdech Penh Nuoth Blvd or turn right to street 608 (east) only. 

Step 2: No more driving around version 2.0

After the blocking on Samdech Pen Nouth Blvd helps nothing but only causes more jam, they change to block the road around the roundabout connected to Kim Il Sung Blvd instead. Now the motorists coming from Kim Il Sung Blvd. can turn to whatever roads they want, but those coming from street 608 (east and west), street 592, and Samdech Pen Nuoth Blvd. can only head to Kim Il Sung Blvd as their furthest.
